Qld: Cowgirl follows Mum's path

A Victorian cowgirl plans to emulate her mother's world champion success .. after taking
the Mount Isa Rodeo by storm today.

TANYA DISTON .. from Narnargoon .. south of Melbourne .. is preparing to leave her
tiny home town at the end of the year .. for a shot at fame and fortune .. in the United
States.

The 17-year-old wants to join the ranks of her mother .. 1978 open barrel race world
champion YVONNE DOWNES .. and become a career cowgirl.

And she's on her way .. after taking out the coveted junior barrel race .. in Mount Isa.
