SA:Redmond critical of "jobs for the boys"

Opposition Leader ISOBEL REDMOND has accused the South Australian government of a jobs
for the boys approach in making appointments to boards and other key positions.

The Liberal leader wants independent panels to pick candidates for such jobs and more
transparency.

She says today's appointment of former Education Minister JANE LOMAX-SMITH as chairman
of the board of the South Australian Museum is and example that could be questioned.

Ms LOMAX-SMITH, who was a Labor government minister for eight years, lost her seat
in the 2010 state election.

Ms Redmond said positions should be advertised with an independent panel to determine
which applicant has the best qualifications.
