Qld: Electrical workers urged to go to umpire
The Queensland government is urging electrical unions and building firms to take theirdispute to the industrial umpire.
Work bans have been imposed on the $280 million Suncorp Stadium redevelopment and othermajor projects as part of a statewide pay rise campaign.
A strike is planned for this Friday and Monday, with bans on overtime this weekendeffectively turning it into a four-day stoppage.
The Electrical Trades Union says a pay rise is needed to compensate workers for increasedresponsibilities and workloads.
Industrial Relations Minister GORDON NUTTALL says he is particularly concerned aboutthe delay to the stadium, one of the government's flagship projects.
