QLD: Letter bomb scare on Gold Coast

GOLD COAST, Dec 3 AAP - Bomb disposal experts removed a suspicious package from a Gold
Coast address today.

A police spokeswoman said a woman living in suburban Parkwood had contacted police about
12.30pm after finding the package which had been mailed from Canberra.

It was feared it could have been one of at least 26 letterbombs addressed to Australian
Taxation Office employees throughout the country -- one exploded at the Canberra Mail Centre
yesterday, slightly injuring two postal workers.

Gold Coast police later reported that the bomb disposal unit had taken the package away.

The woman was believed to have received a warning from police earlier today.
